As a staff we are convinced that our biggest impact will be through the intentional relationships we can form with campers year-round. Intentional relationships will help Great Oaks create disciples of Christ and present a much more holistic approach to ministry. Like Jesus, our able staff and volunteers will choose two to three kids in which to invest in for a minimum of 3 years. Jesus, Himself, had three disciples (Peter, James, John) that were closer to Him who saw, did, and experienced events beyond the other nine.
T.R.A.I.L. Criteria : 1) a strong commitment to growth in Christ 2) ability to commit time to the program. Every person selected will be through the process of prayer and discernment through the Holy Spirit. (Jesus modeled this by spending the night in prayer before His selection of Apostles (Luke 6:12)
Upon completion of the program a T.R.A.I.L. student would…
- Be able to share the Gospel clearly with their friends
- Have a better understanding of life beyond the cycle of poverty and common cultural mind sets (a Christian worldview)
- Know how to study the Bible, in order to grow, teach, and disciple
- Understand and actively use their spiritual gifts
- Be able to define a Godly man/woman
- Have a basic understanding of God’s design for marriage and singleness
- Understand the attributes of God
- Be an active member of a church
- Be aware of and understand the Commission and global missions
